![]() Right now, the Hopper remote is controlling the HDTV's sound, but we want it to control the soundbar sound instead and also accomplish this without having to switch inputs on the Hopper remote too. The sound bar came with its own remote for its audio control as well as additional features, but they don't want to have to use this remote at all and only use the Hopper remote. However, is there any way to program the Hopper's remote so it can seamlessly control the Samsung sound bar for audio, but still power off the Samsung TV in the usual way (the TV power button on remote). Since the HDTV has no audio outputs, we are forced to connect the DISH Hopper receiver directly to the sound bar's audio input jack. Now, they haven't been real happy with the sound coming from the Samsung TV and wanted to upgrade this so we got a Samsung sound bar from Best Buy. Just two HDMI inputs & a component/composite input. This HDTV is a real basic model and has absolutely no audio outputs on its rear panel. It is then connected to a 46" Samsung HDTV. ![]() They have a Hopper in their main living room. AppleTV recognized that remote's signal, and now I can once again use my AppleTV remote to control my Bose Smart Soundbar 300.įor reference, I use the optical port (connected to the TV) to feed sound to the soundbar.I have a family member who has DISH network and I am trying to help them with a situation. I was able to buy this generic Bose remote on Amazon (called "New Remote Control 799702-1100 Fit for Bose Smart Soundbar Series 300/500/900 with Battery") for $23. Most importantly, those generic Bose controllers are able to be recognized by the AppleTV. It appears that generic Bose controllers that can control the Bose Soundbar 900 will also work to control the Bose Soundbar 300. I was able to find a solution that worked. But as of tvOS 16.1, that no longer worked either. Previously, I had some luck using a generic universal TV remote to learn the volume controls from the Bose 300 remote, and then could use the universal TV remote to have the AppleTV learn those commands, as the AppleTV would recognize the Bose volume commands if they were learned by the AppleTV from the universal TV remote. tvOS 16.1 and after seems to have re-broken what tvOS 16.0 fixed, and now the AppleTV no longer recognizes the Bose 300 remote and the AppleTV remote. So, at one point (with the release of tvOS 16.0), Apple seemed to have resolved the issue, and my AppleTVs were able to recognize the input from the Bose Smart Soundbar 300 remote and would properly recognize it in the settings and I was able to control the volume on the Bose 300 with the AppleTV remote.
